Part-Time Warehouse Operative

Thrive Group are recruiting for a Part-Time Warehouse Operative on a temporary basis for 3 months, with a view to start immediately in the Swindon area. This is a part-time position working 08:00-13:00, Monday to Friday, paying £13.00 per hour. Responsibilities of the role includes; Assemble Electrical Cables and Power Supplies: You'll be involved in making up electrical cables and power supplies. Battery Unit Disassembly for Recycling: Break down battery units received for recycling. Assist in Cargo Packing: Support the team by assisting in packing cargo. Crate Construction: Make up crates as needed. General Warehouse Duties: Handle any other general warehouse tasks. Keep the warehouse clean and tidy. Labor-Intensive Role: Expect to handle items weighing between 12kg and 30kg. The successful candidate will; Wiring and Stripping Skills: Proficiency in understanding wiring and stripping back of wires. Warehouse Experience: Prior experience in a warehouse setting. Refuse Loader

Thrive Group Oldham are currently recruiting on behalf of Oldham Council for Refuse Loaders. Please see job description below; Expectations of the Role: The role is very physical (mostly manual handling of heavy waste containers). You will be required to walk a number of miles per day (dependant on collection round). You will be required to work in all types of weather; you should be prepared for this with correct uniform and provisions each day (i.e. cold/hot drinks and food, additional clothing, waterproofs etc). There are a number of health & safety instructions (Safe Systems of work) which must be adhered to. These are detailed in the Handbook (a copy of which will be provided to you on your induction). They role can be pressured as you will be working to tight time frames to ensure the rounds are completed. You will be working alongside members of the public, so to be mindful of your behaviour and approach. You are ultimately representing the council and THRIVE, where inappropriate actions and behaviour will not be tolerated. Working Week: The Waste Management Service work Monday to Friday. Sometimes overtime is offered on Saturdays. The standard working day is 9 hours 10 minutes long with a 45 minute break to be taken over the day. Bank Holidays are a normal working day and are offered at double pay for those selected to work. Start time is 7am every day. We ask you to arrive for 7am so the managers at Oldham Council can check you in and assign you to your round and vehicle in plenty of time so the round can begin on time at 7:15am. Finish time is 17:10pm each day. Please report to the window at the depot to register yourself for work that day. If you are late, the council hold the right to turn you away and send you home without pay. Uniform and PPE: Full uniform and PPE will be provided by Oldham Council. You must not wear anything that has not been provided by the Council (except for head wear such as caps and hats or clothes to keep you warm which can be worn under your uniform). Failure to comply with uniform and PPE requirements may result in your removal from work. Any defects/faults or issues in your uniform/PPE must be reported to your line manager immediately. Disciplinary action can be implemented for failure to comply with the requirements of uniform and PPE as they do contribute to your health and safety at work. PPE Requirements include: hard sole and steel toe capped boots, a grade 3 highly visual vest and mandatory hearing PPE should you be working on a comingled round (collecting glass, cans and plastic bottles). Rates of pay: £12.00 per hour rising to £12.41 after 12 qualifying weeks of service. Temp to perm opportunities available for the right candidates. ​Feeling some tension and stress at work is normal, particularly when you have a looming deadline, tricky project or are juggling many priorities. But it is important to understand when work stress becomes burnout and damaging to both your physical and emotional well-being. ​Being mindful of work stress can have positive impacts on both your personal and work life. Whether your job is s permanent office-based position or a temporary one involving manual work. Anyone can experience stress. That’s why we have put together some steps to help you begin to take control of your stress at work:  1.   Take time to recharge  It is important to take time away from work and really use your free time for yourself. Taking a few minutes during your lunch break at work to listen to a podcast or watch something you like can help with feelings of stress and helps to create boundaries between what is work time and what is personal time.  It’s also important to take breaks from thinking about your job by not checking work-related emails whilst you’re off. You can also choose to disconnect from your phone in the evenings to help you really switch off and relax.   2.   Move your body   Being physically active means sitting down less and moving our bodies more. Even if you are in work in a role that is physically active, it is still important to be moving your body outside of work time.   Exercise has many benefits that will reduce some of the emotional intensity that you're feeling which will help you to manage your problems more calmly, including: better sleep – exercise uses energy so by the end of the day you feel more tired and ready for a good night's sleep  happier moods – physical activity releases feel-good hormones that make you feel better in yourself and give you more energy managing stress, anxiety, and racing thoughts – doing something physical releases cortisol which is your body’s main stress hormone. This is a positive coping strategy as it gives your brain something else to focus on which overall helps manage stress.  Cortisol plays an important role in a number of things in your body, one of which is the ability to boost your energy to help you handle stress before regulating and restoring balance afterwards.  Did you know that all Thrive employees have access to over 3,500 gym discounts across the country? 3.   Understand what is expected of you in your role A common reason many people begin to feel stressed at work is when they are unclear about what is expected from them as an employee. If you don’t know exactly what is expected of you, or the expectations in your role keep changing with minor notice, you could begin to feel more stressed.  If you feel unclear about your requirements, you may benefit from arranging a talk with your manager or supervisor to discuss expectations which in turn can relieve stress for both parties!  4.   Consider how you are using your time at workIf you feel particularly overwhelmed and stressed at work, it is important to ensure you remain organised and manage your time well to help reduce stress:Set realistic goals. Work with colleagues and leaders to set expectations you can meet. Set regular progress reviews and adjust your goals when needed.Make a priority list. Prepare a list of tasks and rank them in order of priority. You can use your list throughout the day and work on tasks in priority order. It is also important to say no if you don't have time to do a task, rather than putting too much on your agenda for one day. Protect your time. For a particularly important or difficult project, make sure to block out time to work on it without interruption. That said, it is also important to break large projects into smaller steps to avoid becoming overwhelmed.  5.   Make use of employee benefits   Make yourself aware of the employee benefits at your workplace.
