C&D Group safeguards candidates' data

 13 Apr 2018

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are new regulations intended to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the EU.  The new GDPR regulations come into force in May 2018.

C&D Group’s preparations
We have always placed maximum effort on securing our database containing your details.  Now we are fine-tuning our processes to ensure this protection and use of your details continues in line with GDPR.

Your rights
GDPR provides you with eight new rights that all EU businesses must offer. Here are the eight rights and how C&D Group protects them.

1.   The right to be informed
You have the right to be told how we acquired your data, how it will be stored and used. Please see our Candidate Privacy Agreement. This gives you clear, unbundled clauses to opt into, and explains how, why, and for how long we will store your data.

2. The right of access
C&D has always put candidates first, so our model fits GDPR like a glove, allowing candidates secure access to our self-service software to edit their personal data as they require. As a candidate, you can log in to update your CV profile, job preferences, communication options and track your recruitment activities from anywhere, and on mobile devices.

3. The right to rectification
The Firefish Software we utilise allows you full access to your own profile information and therefore it is your responsibility to ensure your profile details are accurate and up to date. This same software will also allow you to see which third parties (employers) you have agreed to share your information with as well as any companies you do not want your details to be shared with.

4. The right to erase
You will be able to submit a ‘request to be forgotten’ or object to our legitimate interest for storing your data.

5. The right to restrict processing
Each time you submit your details with interest in a role, you will also have the ability to withdraw your interest at any time via your candidate portal. This will automatically restrict our processing of that particular recruitment process as required by GDPR.

6. The right to data portability
Under GDPR, you must have the ability to download and export your information at will, and if requested, we have 30 days to comply with your request.  To give you control over this, we have an automatic export button on each candidate’s record, so you can easily export your profile information with one click.

7. The right to object
All candidates can easily opt in and out of individual marketing channels e.g. email, job alerts, SMS, and email campaigns.

8. Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling
Our software makes potential matches on contacts, companies, candidates, and jobs to streamline your placement.  These matches are based on the information provided and accessed by you, the candidate.  There is no automated decision-making when it comes to processing or profiling.

Advanced Security
We always have and will continue to ensure your data is stored in a secure manner and in accordance with the security provisions of the GDPR. To this end, we use the appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised processing, accidental loss, disclosure, access, destruction, or alteration.

The level of password security and temporary password management on the software we use has been increased to ensure your peace of mind for our customers.

With this, C&D hope that you now have a better understanding of your new rights under the EU’s GDPR and how we are working to remain compliant and make it as simple as possible for you to exercise your rights.
