Test Engineer

Field Service/Train Testing Engineer



Salary £38,000 - £52,500

Location: Based from Melksham, Wiltshire with frequently UK and international travel


Professional experience and / or qualifications:

  • Degree qualified, HNC or HND in Electrical Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, both electrical and mechanical.
  • High level of customer liaison skills.
  • Good standard of computer literacy.
  • Full and clean driving licence.
  • Knowledge of working in a railway environment.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop a detailed knowledge of current and future products.
  • Must have the ability to download product software.
  • Maintain a good relationship with customer facing teams.
  • Lead for customers’ technical issues and investigation of field failure.
  • Monitor the in-service performance of the equipment to identify problem areas and programmes and dedicated technical support visits.
  • Make recommendations and take actions to affect a solution.
  • Support the customer in the field, in the UK and overseas.
  • Must be able to give presentations on technical investigation at customers’ meetings.
  • Creation of product briefings/service information document.

  • Willingness and availability to travel at short notice is required, as you will be required to travel throughout the UK, Europe and, at times, worldwide to provide support to the company Groups and customers at their sites.  Travel can be for anything from a few days to up to 2/3 weeks or more at a time.
  • You will be required to be on standby one weekend in the month.
