Supplier Quality Reactive Engineer

Salary: £30-£35,000

Location: Melksham, Wiltshire

Type of role: Full-time, Monday – Friday (early finish on Fridays)

Closing date 18th January 2019

Purpose of position:

To be a primary point of contact for the analysis of and communication of all quality related issues found internally and reported by the customer.

Training / education:

  • Degree and practical experience of working in a cross- functional, project-oriented team to ensure all products from the supply sources are delivered on time & products right first time to the Melksham facility
  • Experienced in carrying out & coordinating containment activities
  • Experienced in problem solving methodologies (incl. 8D) up to an industry best practice level.

Professional experience and or qualifications:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and aptitude to interpret complex requirements and flow down into the supplier base to ensure such requirements are met.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team and be able to lead a team.
  • Ability to communicate professionally in both verbal and written contexts
  • Ability to influence peer group and management groups both within the company and at suppliers.
  • Excellent presentation skills

Additional skills and requirements (IT, languages, extensive travel, Etc.):

  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio).
  • Good knowledge of data management / sub versioning to ensure adherence to best principles of knowledge/document management in a collaboration setting.
  • Deep understanding of the SAP QM model & related processes (including SCB)

Main duties:

  • Be a point of contact for the Melksham site for plant and supplier quality related issues in order to carry out primary analysis of failure at point of occurrence to determine failure mode and responsibility – liaison to other departments to ensure actions are complete within a timely manner.
  • Carry out, coordinate & lead containment activities when considered necessary.
  • Daily attendance and feedback during daily reviews.
  • Daily analysis of all rejects placed in the reject cage, the generation of notification & respective SQRAR documentation, initial communication to suppliers through SAP & raising the relevant tasks to Purchasing & SQA etc.
  • Maintain NCR’s related to minor non-conformances not requiring further SQA Engineer / manager intervention through to closure (usually Q2’s).
  • Maintain & optimise plant quality performance evaluation dashboard ready for weekly team review.
  • Support the internal & supplier FAIR generation & documentation approval process where necessary (i.e. document audit, sign off, scanning onto SAP & return of front sheet to supplier).
  • Be a primary link between all departments to optimise processes and efficiencies in relation to delegation of responsibility.
  • Support internal phases of NPI activity
  • Support the development, monitoring, CI activities & maintenance of internal KPI’s and subsequent actions
  • Support internal audits / layered process audits.
  • Champion continuous improvement.
