The C&D Group are acting as an employment business in regards to this role based in Swindon.

My client in Swindon is currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Technician Engineer, preferably from an automotive background.

Pay Rate/Salary:

This will be a temporary position for the first 12 weeks paying between £11.00 - £13.00 per hour. 

Following on from the 13th week you will be on a permanent contract with a salary of £28,000.


Monday - Friday 07:30 - 16:45 with overtime as and when required.

Job Specification:

To provide, support and feedback to manufacturing through supplier related problem solving activities.  Provide feedback to manufacturing engineering and quality based on the analysis of non-conformances.  Provide control of supplier parts by supervising routine incoming inspection of parts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure  “1st part article” is done on time every day/each start-up and validate output 
  • Check and validate that every single rework is done by certified operators in compliance with Rework procedure       
  • Initiate the QRQC Line – participate in the containment and validate the robustness of the containment Support the implementation of corrective actions utilizing PDCA (FTA).
  • Assist the Quality and Production staffs in QRAP resolution of problems on the production floor.
  • Update the Quality tracking charts : Customer Returns - Cost of Non Quality …
  • Perform audits on the line to detect non-respect of the Standard and identify with the supervision the actions to be completed to therefore comply with the Standard
  • Participate in the eradication of Customer issues and Non Quality issues
  • Ensure that rules are respected and “Stop at first disagree” and “Stop at first defect” are applied
  • Update the quality documents following a process related change
  • Verify the continuous conformance of the process to generate product to specification in accordance with the control plans (machine capability – yearly product audit …)
  • Has authority to stop a manufacturing / assembly line in any situation where Standards are not respected or a safety or quality risk for the operator or for the customer has been detected or following a LLC Stability audit demonstrating lower than 100%
  • Where applicable, issue deviation authorization to keep producing and advise the Supervisor.
  • Escalate receiving inspection quality issues as appropriate e.g. if raised on off-shift or in absence of Eng. Or Mgr.
  • Implement and maintain procedures and work instructions to ensure efficient operations
  • Teach and show production team members the quality controls and critical characteristics of the final assembly and any work in process
  • Coach Team Members to use hold tags, red arrows etc.
  • End of shift reconciliation of physical scrap with TLR sheet – adjust TLR sheet if required to ensure accuracy
  • Assume extended responsibility for all day-to-day inspection activities.
  • Train Team Members on master cubing and Track master cube data collection.
  • Support CpK studies.
  • Take readings of torque angles and enter data into spreadsheet; Highlight out-of-spec conditions and escalate as appropriate.
  • Shift Changeover Communication.
  • Complete and update documentation such as: FPA / GAUGE / TLR / SCRAP / Super Control Sheets, Control Plans etc.
  • Capture GAUGE reading and track performance (SPC-Statistical process controls).
  • Participate in shift supervisors meetings and inform about any quality activities related to the plant.
  • Communicate with incoming/outgoing shift quality personnel.
  • Make decisions re: disposition of parts/components after teardown or reword and reintroduce parts into production as appropriate.
  • Check Honda Portal for issues, address as appropriate or escalate to Quality Engineer/Manager and/or Plant.
  • Maintain all calibration requirements and quality tool certifications (gauge R&R).
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervision including off-shift supervisor.
  • Train data collectors on the use of measuring instruments and gauges where applicable.
