Quality Systems Engineer


Permanent/ full-time

Salary: £30,000 - £37,000/ Annum 

Purpose of role:

To Support the organisation in developing agile business processes across the functions.To ensure the business exceeds compliance requirements of ISO9001,14001, 18001, EN50001, IRIS, RISAS, Internal REX framework and Operational legal requirements in geographical areas of trading

Training/ skills needed:

  • Apprenticeship or equivalent with Manufacturing or Engineering background an advantage
  • Past experience working with quality management systems experience in auditing quality management systems
  • Solid knowledge in Microsoft office as well as common business intelligence packages (I.e SAP BW)
  • Maintain up-to- date knowledge about IT best practices in process management, ability and willingness to travel to other sites (including abroad).
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills

Indicative main responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance and improvements are effective across all Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems sites by working with the various functions to drive improvements.
  • Hold lessons learnt activities between the Quality teams across the Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems sites to promote best practice and knowledge sharing.
  • Increase the efficiency of business processes by supporting Local Process Drivers (LPD) and their teams in improving the clarity of their processes and carrying out effective process reviews, with focus on meaningful change based on the requirements of 3rd Party standards
  • Lead internal (REX), Customer and Third Party audits (ISO9001, IRIS ISO/TS22163, RISAS) to ensure compliance. This includes audit planning & preparation, facilitating audit activities and ensuring post audit actions are captured in Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Audit tool (RIT) and communicated to the Local Process Drivers (LPD).
  • Manage the Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Audit tool (RIT) for the Melksham site and drive implementation of corrective actions on process non-conformities in a timely manner (Target <90 Days) by challenging the relevant Local Process Drivers (LPD) to implement process improvements.
  • Control Procedure updates and release in Knorr-Bremse REX System for the Melksham site.
