Product Development Manager

The C&D Group are working in partnership with a Swindon based I.T. company to recruit for a Product Development Manager. We are looking for an experienced manager with a background / experience in specialist IT training / IT certification and / or apprenticeships. This is a full-time and permanent position.

The purpose of this role is the management of and responsibility for planning, leading, organising and motivating a product development team to achieve the development of products aligned with the company objectives.

Key Responsibilities will include;

  • To plan and manage product development, scheduling the required activity to enable on-time and within budget delivery whilst managing risk and issues in a collaborative manner;
  • Own and prepare progress reporting against plan applying a balance between agility and predictability to provide clarity against KPI's and an ability for relevant boards to make informed decisions;
  • To develop and lead a high performing team that are both accountable and driven through the provision of appropriate guidance, empowerment, structure and the management of blockers;
  • Work with Product Managers to provide the support and governance required to meet the demands and manage expectations;
  • Blend project management principles and practices to fit mission-critical product development whilst defining and implementing a continuous improvement plan incorporating best practice both internally and externally;
  • Apply appropriate assessment methodology that has impact and drives results;
  • Support, coach, mentor and manage your team to ensure fair, consistent approach of workloads and development to produce a highly effective team;
  • Continually looking at ways to make improvements to systems, processes and procedures


Person Specification;

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience and a track record of success to lead the development of product and ensure objectives, goals and commitments are met
  • Demonstrable experience and track record of assessment methodology and applying best practice
  • Significant experience of working with I.T. professionals at a team and individual level
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully transitioning product development to business as usual
  • Significant experience of the training / software development life cycle as well as project management skills
  • Significant experience of motivating and leading interdependent teams
  • A background in education with knowledge of Ofsted regulations


The standard working hours for this role are Monday to Friday 9.15am-5.15pm.
