Maintenance Technician

C&D are currently searching for a Maintenance Technician for our client, a top UK manufacturing company and market leader, to work on their site in Bristol. As the Maintenance Technician, you will be supporting the highly exacting manufacturing activities across the site. You will be responsible for all maintenance aspects within the company to ensure the plant operators at optimum efficiency, safely and in accordance with current legislation.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that efficient and effective arrangements are in place to deal with any unplanned or emergency works required at the sites.
  • Plan and carry out maintenance on all plant and equipment aiming to achieve zero unplanned downtime.
  • Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing Line Managers to increase availability and effectiveness.
  • Arrange specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components.
  • Manage external building / service maintenance contracts (PAT testing, fire alarms, compressor, etc).
  • Attend external training as required and ensure team members attend too.
  • Ensure that suitable arrangements are in place to effectively and safely manage all aspects of works undertaken by external contractors.
  • Key holder and named on the Call Out Registers for alarms.
  • Ensure Health & Safety compliance and that all legal requirements are implemented and adhered to.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in creating, updating and maintaining Risk Assessments and Standard Operations Sheets for all maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all equipment is certified for use.
  • Induct all new starters to the business.
  • Control all maintenance tools, stores and equipment.
  • Monitor and control maintenance costs.
  • Assist the manufacturing team in reducing change over time.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve quality, reduce cycle time and reduce cost.

About You

  • Ideally educated to HNC level in Maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and pneumatic systems and diagrams.
  • Experience of working with Engineering drawings / geometrical tolerance
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Report writing and project management
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and drawings.
  • Specific vision requirements include colour vision.

Standard hours of work will be rotating shifts Monday to Friday 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm.
