C&D are working with an industry leading client who requires an experienced Maintenance Engineer to work in their Swindon based sites.


Type: 3 Month fixed term contract

Hours: 40 Hours per week


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance work on both irradiation plants to an agreed schedule and additionally, as required due to observed and reported faults.
  • Ensure that all plant and machinery is in a safe working condition, reporting any defects to Plant Manager.
  • Complete Job/Defect report on all plant breakdowns and repairs carried out. Enter details into the maintenance section of the plant logbook.
  • Carry out emergency repairs — which will involve being called out during "silent hours" as required in accordance with agreed practice.
  • Ensure damaged tubs are repaired and returned to plant. Tubs which are beyond economical repair must be vetted by the Plant Manager before rejection as scrap.
  • Maintain stock levels of essential spares and fuel subject to approval by the Plant Manager. A record of all stocks must be kept.
  • Oversee and carry out installation and maintenance of general plant and machinery in and around the factory premises, including heaters, plumbing, lighting fittings, forklift trucks, compressors etc.
  • Keep the workshop in a clean and tidy condition and when work has been carried out on either plant, or in other areas that they are left clean and tidy.
  • Assist with the handling of radioactive sources.
  • Ensure the security of doors leading into the workshop is maintained.
  • Become a Radiation Classified Worker.
  • Carry out other duties as directed by the Plant Managers.
