Interim Operations Manager
 
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Coordination and Supervision - Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of various departments within the distribution centre.  
Financial - Review financial performance and data in conjunction with departmental KPIs and metrics.  
Best Practices - Improve processes and procedures to drive efficiency in support of site goals.  Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are documented and implemented.  Monitor adherence to rules, health and safety regulations, and procedures.
Staff Planning & performance – Effective workforce and workload planning are essential. Ensure sufficient skilled resource is in place to achieve planned pick and despatch volumes in conjunction with third party agency.  Monitor performance of all departments vs KPI’s and ensure that depart heads are managing under performance.  
HR and risk management – Ensure that recruitment and selection processes within the site are in line with recruitment and selection policy.  Ensure adherence to all legal requirements regarding health & safety, right to work and well being within the workplace. Create a culture of safety and security for colleagues and employees
Communication - Ensure effective communication between the DC, Agency, Transport Team and Head Office and the DC management team
Strategic Input - Liaison with top management. Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implement and manage operational plans.
 
Education and Experience
• Minimum 3 years experience in a similar operational role with direct responsibility for over 100 FTE working within a fast moving day 1 for day 2 operation
• Knowledge of voice picking and bespoke warehouse management systems 
• Up to date knowledge of the Workplace (Health & Safety regulations 1992) Regulations
• Proven experience of lean methodology / six sigma preferable
• Intermediate to expert knowledge Microsoft Excel
• Proven track record in creating and analysing data and converting outputs into new procedures and plans. 
• Leading and implementing the delivery of new procedures and plans with the support of the wider management team
