Metering Services Gas Expert

Salary: Circa £21,000/annum

Location: Chippenham

Hours: 37.5 hours/week

About the role:

This is a newly created role that will provide gas industry expertise to all teams within Customer Services. You will be responsible for the timely sharing of information with the industry and ensuring all industry information provided to us is used appropriately and in a timely manner. Identifying knowledge and performance issues within the teams you will use dynamic and engaging coaching to support and drive performance. You will clearly track and document all coaching delivered and will be able to show clear successes and impacts on team and business performance. This is an aspirational role that requires a driven and engaged role model.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop functional capability, knowledge and confidence, using dynamic and constructive coaching and feedback, to support delivery of department and company objectives
  • Support Customer Services with all gas metering issue escalations ensuring the customer is kept informed at all times and managed throughout the process until resolution is achieved
  • Industry Third party engagement - SPAA, MAM, CNG
  • Provide expert gas knowledge to the wider business to support projects relating to Gas industry
  • Review Gas Industry change documents, and follow through to ensure compliance
  • Data Interrogation and root cause analysis, ensuring Gas portfolio is in clean state and being proactively reviewed/managed
  • Day to day handling of gas metering work as required
  • Provide training and knowledge sharing on gas within Metering Services
  • Predict and identify potential issues that could lead to a detrimental impact on performance and put preventative measures in place
  • Analyse Industry and internal E2E gas processes, ensuring best practice and excellent customer experience
  • Act as an escalation route and contact for Third Parties.


  • Expert knowledge of the Energy Industry and its operations
  • A foundation gas knowledge and desire to know more
  • Experience of Industry Data Management
  • Confident in building strong relationships across the teams to support buy in and deliver good performance.
  • Ability to motivate others to deliver against conflicting and changing priorities
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Motivated, positive, confident and personable


  • Process improvement, mapping and documenting experience
  • Reporting skills using Excel
