Finance Officer

The C&D Group are working in partnership with a Swindon based organisation to recruit for a Finance Officer. The start date for this role will be Monday 13th January for a period of 3-6 weeks, possibly longer if cover is still required.

The purpose of the role is to be responsible for the day-to-day management of all financial transactions and procedures. This includes the maintenance of all financial records, ensuring financial data accuracy, the entry of all transactions on the accounting software and the administration of the payroll.


Key Responsibilities will include;

  • Preparing invoices as necessary including grant claims. Controlling all outstanding invoices and ensuring prompt payment
  • Claiming tax relief on Gift Aid and maintaining Gift Aid records
  • Banking of all cheques and cash as required
  • Processing BACS and cheque payments and maintaining accurate records of authorisation
  • Paying staff expenses ensuring they are properly authorised
  • Administration of the payroll and related HMRC and pension payments liaising with external agents as required
  • Preparing and posting the monthly salaries journal. Reconciling the payroll nominal ledger accounts and carrying out other reconciliations
  • Using QuickBooks to undertake regular reconciliations of the main bank accounts


Person Specification;

  • GCSE English language C or above, or equivalent
  • GCSE Maths C or above, or equivalent
  • Experience of using standard Accounting package (Quickbooks online preferably but not essential)
  • Preparing and posting monthly journals
  • Reconciliations of bank accounts
  • Accurate data entry and excellent numeracy skills
  • Confident and experienced in use of MS Office Suite especially Excel

This role will be working 25 hours over 5 days, Monday to Friday.
