Purpose of position:

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will develop various project programmes, assist with managing customers and projects teams, and support to deliver the projects on time, to budget and to the desired quality.

Professional experience and/or qualifications:

  • HND or HNC qualified in engineering or technical
  • Experience  and knowledge of commercial contracts
  • Experience in a rail project environment desired
  • Awareness of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
  • Knowledge of project management tools and techniques

Additional Requirements:

  • Able and willing to travel as required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Management team in the delivery of contract administration services, as appropriate, to the Project Department
  • Manage specific projects issues as required
  • Lead the planning and implementation of the project, develop planning capabilities
  • Prime/secondary point of contact for the customer
  • Assist the Project Management team in the development and maintenance of a risk register
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements, manage project resource allocation
  • Manage team projects costs in line with the approved budget
  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools
  • Assist in managing the projects change control process
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress to all stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Ability to run a project with the assistance and guidance of the Project team members
  • Assist the Project Management team in the development and maintenance of Project templates
  • Support the external site with tooling and consumables requirements
  • Manage calibration and tooling
  • Control and organise the logistics of project material, consumables, and tooling
