We wanted to make it clear as to what happens when you join Nationwide Building Society as a Customer Service Advisor…

So, you have been through the application process, had the interview and all your documents have been signed off. Now it is time to start the job!


What hours will you be working?


Both Swindon & Northampton operate on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis.  The busiest time for the Contact & Administration Centres are 6 am – 10 pm.  We will let you know your hours well in advance and it will be agreed before you even take the job.


How will you get there?


In Swindon, there are various local bus links direct from Swindon Town Centre and there are also plenty of bus services from neighbouring towns i.e. Royal Wootton Bassett and Chippenham.


If you would prefer to drive, there is free on-site parking available.  If you join a car share scheme, you will be able to enjoy preferential parking in their underground car park.


You can even cycle using the dedicated, improved cycle routes throughout Swindon.  There is plenty of secure space in their cycle shed to store your bike along with special lockers for you to store your gear and they even have a shower so that you can freshen up once you have arrived.



In Northampton, there are various local bus links direct from Northampton Town Centre.  Regular buses run to Moulton Park and stop right outside the office.


If you would like to drive, please note that there is limited free parking available on site, however, preferential parking is allocated to those who sign up to the car share scheme.


If you would like to cycle, you will be able to store your bike in their secure cycle shed – they even have a shower so you can freshen up once you arrive.


What type of person do you have to be?


The role of a Customer Service Advisor is the perfect position for someone who is a people person, who loves solving customers’ problems over the phone with the aim of resolving these issues the first time.

What will you be doing?


You’ll need to have excellent listening skills, with the ability to ask the right questions to understand the customer’s query, you will then need to resolve this for the customer.


You will need to take command, being straightforward and helpful, so that the customer knows you have done everything possible to help them.
